David D. Van Slooten, MD, PA is a private neurology practice in Westwood, New Jersey. It is not owned by a large healthcare entity or a large group of physicians, and our three neurologists take the time to listen to each patient. Together they bring decades of experience caring for patients in Bergen County and leadership roles at local hospitals, including Holy Name Medical Center, Pascack Valley Hospital and Valley Hospital in Ridgewood.
David D. Van Slooten, M.D.
Board certified in Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, Electrodiagnostic Medicine and Neurosonology, Dr. Van Slooten has practiced neurology in Bergen County since 1989. His specialized interests include EMG, video EEG and carotid and transcranial ultrasound.
Dr. Van Slooten graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - New Jersey Medical School in 1984. He then completed his neurology residency at the same institution and was Chief Resident in his final year. He obtained further specialization during a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, which included the position of clinical instructor in Neurology. Dr. Van Slooten began practicing neurology in 1989 in Bergen County, New Jersey.
Lorraine S. Lira, M.D.
Dr. Lira joined Dr. Van Slooten's practice in 2001 after leading her own neurology practice in Michigan. She performs EMG/NCV and therapeutic Botox injections, and her interests include migraine, vertigo, stroke and dementia.
Dr. Lira graduated from the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in Manila, Philippines, in 1989. She completed a required year of rotating internship at the Veterans Hospital in Quezon City before taking her general medical boards in the Philippines.
Patricia G. Klein, M.D.
Dr. Klein has practiced general adult neurology in Bergen County since 1979. A former registered nurse who graduated first in her class from New Jersey Medical School, she is a strong advocate of shared decision making.
Dr. Klein originally was a Registered Nurse, having graduated from Holy Name School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse while matriculating at William Paterson College and Rutgers University.
